Design Philosophy

We believe the path to audio nirvana is by way of simplified circuitry and the use of high quality materials. Think in terms of each component can only take something away from the true audio signal. The goal is to minimize what each component takes from the original signal. This approach can be taken back through the actual process of recording the signal from when it was real music. If each component damages the signal in some way it would seem only obvious that the simplest practical circuit would be better.

Why is this unit so great?

Music is reproduced with a transparency that rivals a simple cable. If you listen closely you will notice that you seem to hear everything that could possibly be there and likely will hear some stuff never noticed in the past. Normally to get this level of detail and transparency you will get some edge, grain, brightness, or sibilance that can contribute to a fatiguing listening session. Generally passive preamps will avoid this fatigue. The PLC is able to deliver all of the music, detailed, clear, and transparent, with none of these negative effects of active electronics. The problem with passive preamps has been a loss of dynamics and bass. The PLC autoformer attenuator does not suffer these ill effects since it is capable of delivering more output than input. Current is the real muscle behind the signal that gives it strength for good dynamics and bass.
